Moulin Rouge:is a 2001Australian film by Baz Luhrmann, based

largely on the Giuseppe Verdi opera La Traviata. It tells the story of a young

Britishpoet/writer, Christian (Ewan McGregor), who falls in love with the star

of the Moulin Rouge, cabaretactress and courtesan Satine (Nicole Kidman). It

uses the musical setting of the Montmartre Quarter of Paris, France. The film

was nominated for eight Oscars, including Best Picture, and won two: for art

direction and costume design.

I have  seen Moulin Rouge more times than I should say and I have noticed

something new and unique every time. This film is so intricate (and beautiful)

that you cannot possibly absorb it all in one viewing. Luhrman (along with his

Bazmark production team) really is a visionary and his films push the limits in

such amazing ways. The music, the sets, the choreography - all of it is awe-

inspiring. Ewan McGregor proves his versatility as an actor yet again by

bringing such a heartfelt innocence to Christian - and the man can sing! Nicole

Kidman went from being just another actress to me to one of my favorites -

she takes on the role of Satine so honestly and proves that she not only has a

comedic side but a great voice as well. Together the two of them light up the

screen. In a year of mostly mediocre films (with a few notable exceptions)

Moulin Rouge is totally refreshing. It not only promotes truth, beauty, freedom,

and love but is a perfect example of them as well. Luhrman himself said that it

was time for a new kind of storytelling and he was right! Open your mind and

enjoy one of the most original movie experiences in years. A bohemian storm is

brewing! Here you can find my favourite moment of the movie..The elephant

An interview with :Andy

My favourite Movies and why, in no order at all:

1. Anger Management
I like Anger Management as it has the comic Genious of Adam Sandler perfectly fused with the Genious-Genious of Jack Nicholson. In my opinion this is Sandler's greatest performances and he is along side with one of the greatest actors in the world. Nicholson, using his usual crazy character and Adam Sandler's more serious side of acting go together really well. Not the best
Nicholson movie ever but it's up there with his greates
t.

2. Batman Forever
Batman forever to me is one of the best out of the Tim Burton Batman movies. Although the first was Genious and Batman returns was exually entertaining I think Batman Forever has two of the greatest villains ever. Jim Carrey as The Riddler is an image of genious. He is typical Wacky Jim Carrey but as this character it works. I think this is the only movie with Tomy Lee Jones I
have watched and enjoyed. Although it is at a loss without Michael Keaton as Batman, Val Kilmar sure does make an enjoyable Bruce Wayne.

3. 10 Thing I hate about you.
A modern adaption of William Shakespears ''Taming of the Shrew'' starring Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles. Being the first movie I ever saw with the Late Great Heath. With Heath Ledger's Performance in this movie, it made me a fan of his, and enjoyed such films as the Brothers Grim and Monster's Ball. Not a fan of Shakespeare, modern adaptions always help me enjoy the
plays. This was one of them that liked so much it made me want to read the book. One of the only two Rom-Coms I like it is well worth the watch wether it be for the story, or to see Heath Ledger's earlier work
.

4. Battle Royale
Being the first Japanese movie I sat down and watched properly, it introduced me to a whole new load of movies and also made me a fan of Takeshi Kitano (Takeshi's Castle) and Tatsuya Fujiwara (Death Note) A story about a future Japan where the children all boycott school and its basically a story of Adults v Children. The Battle Royale act is where a whole class of students (40+2
other students who arent in the original class - although reading the book they were in the original class) are sent to a deserted island and the only way off is to kill eachother off with the random weapons they are issued, filled with action and violence and of couse, love. Battle Royale is one of Japan's greatest modern movies.

5. Whisper of the Heart (Mimi wo Sumeseba)
An animation brought to you by Hayao Miyazaki (My Neighbour Totoro and Spirited Away). Whisper of the Heart is a great love story and beautifully animated. Unlike the follow up, The Cat Returns, the is no magic like Miyazaki's usual animations but there is a great story and an inspiring story at that.
Rating out of *****
Anger Management ***1/2
Batman Forever ****
10 Things I hate about you ****1/2
