Before I start I would like to make a few comments. Firstly, like most Asian languages, people elder than you tend to be treated with respect and such is present in the language and its structure. The main aspect is the word “you”. For people elder than yourself (or status-wise e.g. boss or older brother's or sister's spouse) the word “you” is “Afne” (Af-neh). For those younger than you (or if your spouse has younger brothers or sisters or cousins) its “tumi” (to-me [Like the chuckle brothers, “to me to you”]).
I = Ammi Mine = Ammar You = Afneh/Tummi Your\Yours = Afnarr/Tummarr Bhohondu (Bho-hon-du) = Friend Bhai = Brother (Like Oni-chan) Arfa = Sister (Like Onee-chan) Ammar Bhai = My Brother Ammar Boin = My Sister Abbah (Ab-bah) = Dad Ummah (Um-mah) = Mum Ammar/Afnarr/Tummarr bafh = My/your father (Bafh sounds similar to Bath) Ammar/Afnarr/Tummarr ma =My/your mother
I hope to see you again sometime. - Afnarr/Tummarr loggeh dekha oibo (Af-narr/Tum-marr log-geh dek-kah oi-bo) Are you alright? - Afne\tumi tik asso ni? (Af-neh/to-me tik uss-so ni?)
I am fine\ok - Ammi tik assi (Am-mi tik uss-si)
I am sick – Ammarr essei thaff (Am-marr es-sei tah-aff)
How are you? Afne\tumi balla asso ni? (Af-neh/to-me bal-lah uss-so ni?)
please show respect. - kheo adom qaida hikkaison nani? (Keh-o adom kai-da hik-ka-so-n nan-ni? [ this sentence in english would mean “Hasn't anyone taught you manners/respect” but it is also used to mean “Please show respect”) visit our language Exchange for further help – Arre khuno shaigho sau, Language Exchange-jor ou. (Arr [like the pirate but without the pirate accent :P] ku-no shai-joo sau, Language Exchange-jor ou [like ow that hurt, but withought the screaming and the pain])
i will sleep. - Ammi ghum dimmu (Am-mi goo-um [say it fast] dim-mu) See ya - Dekha oibo (Dek-kah oi-bo)
i am broadcasting, you can hear my voice – Ammi broadcast khorriyarr, ammarr mhat huntai farrbhai. (Am-mi broadcast Khor-ri-yarr, am-marr, mah-ut [say it fast] hun-tai farr-bye) happy valentines day. - Happy Balentine (Happy is usually Khushi [khu-shi], but Valentines is an western immport so it pretty much stays as it is.) i was disconnected. - Disconnect oizazei (oi-zaz-ze) |
